Professional Development Opportunities
Alaska State Council on the Arts writes:
2013
We have heard from
a lot of artists and arts professionals that you would like to see more professional development offerings around
marketing, business development and technology. As a result, we are excited to announce a couple of opportunities
that are coming up!
-
First, if you are in the Anchorage area, we invite you to an artist workshop Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the
AnchorageMuseum. ASCA has partnered
with the Museum and the Municipality of Anchorage to host a workshop for artists on how to use CaFE
(www.callforentry.org),
photographing your work, as well as a mock jury that will critique artist's presentation of their
work.
-
We are also partnering with the Homer Arts and Culture
Alliance to host the workshop in Homer at the BunnellStreetArtsCenter. It will be on Monday, June 17th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Other communities have also requested this workshop, so we are working on
organizing future events in Fairbanks, Juneau, Kodiak and Haines.
-
We are working with Creative Capital, whose mission is "to
support innovative and adventurous artists across the country through funding, counsel and career development
services," to provide a series of four webinars for Alaska artists and
arts organizations. The topics of these will be: Art Business Management, Creating a Marketing Strategy, Social
Media and Budgeting. Also, in May 2014 Creative Capital will be coming to Alaska to provide an in-person Professional Development Institute to coincide with our
statewide arts conference. Creative Capital provides some of the highest caliber professional development for
artists that I have seen, so I hope you will take advantage of this great resource that we are bringing to
Alaska! We are working on the schedule for the webinars and will be
announcing it soon.
